About Us

For over 2o years My Glass Wings has been a staple in downtown Alpena, Michigan specializing in stained glass creations of all sizes and shapes. When the former owner decided to retire, she hoped someone would want to carry on the art and so that's where I stepped in. My name is Terri Powers and I was born and raised in Southeast Michigan and worked in the Medical field as a Laboratory Med Tech for many years before segueing into the Technology portion of medicine. I informally retired after 30 years in the field just about the time my husband and I purchased an abandoned stone farmhouse in Alpena and began the process of gutting it and completely remodeling it while trying to maintain some of its 1895 authenticity. During this time, I began taking classes at My Glass Wings and when the owner decided to sell it, it seemed like it was meant to be my next passion project. So as of January 1, 2025 My Glass Wings has now been reborn as Suncatchers LLC. Suncatchers will strive to uphold and even try to excel at the standards that My Glass Wings brought to the community for so many years. Watch for some exciting new additions to our art creations and retail areas.

I'm very excited for this next chapter for the shop and for myself and look forward to continuing the tradition of beautiful art being created right in our own downtown Alpena. Come say hi if you're in the area and see what we do and have to offer!
